Preparing for takeoff...

Welcome to the newly born, wide-eyed and kicking Flying Trunk web site. Here is where we'll post news and updates on the development of this show, along with music samples, videos and info about the show album due in September. There is so much information to share already, that I believe a simple blog is the only way to start this.

This weekend was an exciting milestone for us. We finally completed our video to submit to Kickstarter.com to (what else?) kick-start support both the album this fall, and a great production of this show next season. We're really lucky to have the likes of Josh and Steve Hontz on our team -- they make it look like we spent a fortune to make our video. Turns out, the Hontzes (Dueling Dog Productions) are all the professional video production anyone could want.

With the prodigious music talents of Josh, Katie and Connor, our second venture into authoring a full length musical is already running like clockwork.

Oddly, I spent as much time on a few seconds of cartoon animation for the promo video as I spent composing both of the new songs that are sampled in that video. I lost track of all the hours the rest of the team put into setting up and editing this thing. All this attention to one promo video might seem like a strange choice, but I'm OK with it. Why not show in this way how seriously we take the interest of our supporters? We do, after all. We know that art isn't a way to get any of us rich, but we do know it's a way to enrich a great many others. Let's see if the idea catches on...
